As you might know we are working very hard on our webshop, however yet again it has been put on hold or well not really on hold, the work is just a bit slower. Christmas is getting closer and we can already feel a bit of pressure of some early Christmas shopping in the shop so we will focus more on the shop until Christmas and then go back on focusing on the webshop.
However we do offer a mail order service, quite regularly we do have customers contacting us via email or phoning the shop asking if we can ship products and yes we sure can.
We will do a transaction over the phone and ship it hopefully the same day. We normally charge a Postage fee at £3, however it can change due to weight of item.
So if you see anything on our blog our on our facebook page or just hope we might have the product in stock just give us a ring and we will be happy to ship it to you.
We will do our best to make sure we put up more images from the shop on the web and on our facebook page.

Have a lovely rest of the week and I hope to see you in the shop soon.
We have had quite a number of requests for some evening events during November and December. I have been to a few myself in Sweden way back and also a couple here in the UK and yes it is rather lovely to get your Christmas shopping done without the stress of doing it at lunch hour or sharpening the elbows at the department store. No it is much better to do the Christmas gift shopping with good friends, a glass of something and lovely nibbles after opening hours. We did a couple of trials last year, mostly with friends and family, which was lots of fun.
And the really good news is that this year we have teamed up with Bia Bistrot who will do some fabulous canapés for us. May we suggest to book a table at Bia Bistrot afterwards since it is just three doors down and their food (and drinks) is amazing.
So this is how it will work:
Bring a few friends (and friends friends) or family along after work, after the children have been fed and the husband have made it home.
We require a minimum of 6 people (maximum 15, the shop is full of Christmas gifts and it will be a bit of a squash and a squeeze if more than 15), and with a minimum spending of £20 per person.
Find your gifts, and while we wrap them up in lovely Scandinavian style enjoy a glass of fizz and chat with your friends. Now does that not sound like a great couple of hours, perfect to catch up with friends before the hectic time of Christmas and the holidays.
A few dates are already been taken, so pop in to the shop or give us a ring at 0131 629 0941 or why not just email hello@spektakular.co.uk and grab an evening you think will be perfect. Any time Monday – Saturday between 19.00 – 22.00 and Sunday between 18.00 – 21.00.
What a sad rainy day here in Edinburgh and it is cold as well. I have had some time today to freshen up the window and prepare for more Christmas deliveries and just try to get myself a little bit more organised.
The shop feels really full and vibrate with all the latest deliveries and it sure looks lovely and colourful. So I took a few images from the shop of some seasonal goodies, more to come. Think I need to use my real camera instead so apologies for dark images…well it is a dark day:)

We are expeting more deliveries all the way up until Christmas and the first pallet with Ornaments arrived last week and next one is planed in for next week, so glad in-laws will come down this weekend to give us an helping hand to create more storage units in the back office.
2 years, can hardly believe it! It sure is a wonderful feeling and Richard and I are so pleased.
A massive THANK YOU to all our amazing customers who have helped us grow! And thank you for your kind words, it sure means a lot to us to hear how much you appreciate the shop. Yes I guess we are a bit different with our Swedish (Scandinavian) style. Stylish and contemporary designs is what we love and yes COLOURS! The shop can be very colourful and changing after each season.
So of course we will celebrate this week staring Tuesday 18th September. We have some cracking offers in the shop such as 25% off selected Linum cushion covers and 10% on all the fabulous Pappelina rugs (including 10% on any orders placed this week) so do pop in and see us and hopefully you can find some nice gifts or treats.
And of course check out our Facebook page, if you are not a friend it is time to become one, because it is nearly competition time and there will be nice prizes up for grabs all the way to December.
Well this also means Stina our daughter will be two years in three and a half weeks. It sure was a few heavy weeks between opening up the shop and giving birth to our little rascal. Would not recommend it but would not change it…
Have a lovely week and we hope to see you in the shop.
Charlotte, Richard and the girls (Emma, Asa and Lisa)
I have started a few blogs but just not managed to finish one single one!!! Terrible, feel like time is not on my side at the moment, oh well. Back in Edinburgh and back at the shop which is absolutly great, have really missed it. I was back two days the first week after we came back from Sweden and then bam, Stina got fever and then covered in some strange rash, as children do. So I am sad to say that the first two weeks of being back have not been very productive. That might not really be true, I have visited my Sagaform agent and seen all the new Autumn designs (should arrive within a few weeks). Also seen the new Christmas collections, some lovely designs will arrive from November onwards. I have been in contact with a few new brands we would like to introduce during the Autumn. A Teddykompaniet delivery has arrived, gorgeous slippers with matching bibs and also some super cute pull along (ladybird, snail and hedgehog). Stina got a ladybird as a gift when I started to let her walk more on the street and it has been absolutely fantastic (thanks Rhona). A lovely new cushion order is on it way (and a second one already ordered prepared for Christmas).
Tuesday the 18th September we have been here for two years, can hardly believe it. Two years ago it sure was a different feeling, we had stock in our livingroom, shelves were not up yet, I was heavily pregnant and both Richard and I were super nervous. But these two years have been absolutely amazing. We have got to know so many new lovely people and it is just such a nice feeling to see the shop grow and becoming a shop people always visit when they are in the area. It does not look like it did two years ago either, we have managed to find lots of new brands and we just love the look of a bright and colourful shop. So a massive THANK YOU to all our amazing and lovely customers for helping us grow.
Good news, I did take more photos than I normally do in Sweden. So hopefully by the end of this coming week I should have a couple of posts with photos from Sweden. Richard, Stina and I did a shopping day in Gothenburg and I did take photos from my favourite shops:)
Pop in to the shop and say hi, also keep an eye out for news and also some amazing Birthday offers.
Richard arrived to a sunny Sweden yesterday and we still have seven very busy days ahead before we head back to Edinburgh.
Due to this mix with the festival and school starts, the shop will be closed on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st. We apologise for any inconvenience this might cause. We are open as usual on Wednesday 22nd.
Please do pop in during the weekend to organise those perfect presents. Åsa and Lisa are happy to help.
Meet Annika, owner of a charming little shop in my hometown Alingsås. I always make sure I visit Lappat & Klart when I am home. Since I opened my own shop I got to know a few shop owners and store managers in Alingsås. And Annika is such a cool lady and I really enjoy her ideas and her company and I am glad I got to know her.
Lappat & Klart is a great little shop to find good gifts or pleasant treats. Beautiful teatowels mixed with stunning candlesticks in cast iron, fun jewellery, stylish scarfs, clever baking trays and lots more.
This shop is quite similar to Spektakulär, a few brands we both do and it is great to share tips and ideas. Yesterday I spent a couple of hours in her shop while Stina was away with her mormor (grandma). Even if I don’t feel like I contributed a lot it was great walking around in the shop, have a good chat with Annika and also falling in love with a few new designs which I am excited about to bring and introduce to the shop this Autumn,
I am amazed by how many new contacts and lovely people I have met since we started Spektakulär. Love how helpful people are and I hope that I am as helpful back as I can be.
Here are a few inspirational images from Lappat & Klart, please do let me know if it is something you see that you think we should have at Spektakulär.
Stunning tall candle holders made in cast ironFell in love with this stunning lampshade by Färg & Form. I am excited to introduce these at the shop during the Autumn,Have looked for jewellery for the shop for some time and I think this brand might be perfect for Spektakulär
Teatowels and Dishcloths from quality company Ekelund.Stunning teatowels from EkelundWettex (Dish cloths), so popular in Sweden, maybe one day we might get them in.I am pretty sure these might be recognised, the popular Leaf napkin holders from Pluto, here with colouful napkins by Marimekko.Every Swede knows about Ernst, a well known and loved designer. He has teamed up with Färg & Form and designed these gorgeous candle sticks, Simple yet stunning. They will arrive this Autumn at SpektakulärPerfect for our MOZ lovers, colourful umbrella with moose on.
It was lovely to spend a little time at the shop yesterday, must admit I miss being at Spektakulär, but will be back in the shop Sunday the 26th August. Today I am not sure what we will do, rain and grey, mum did some hints that we might go to Borås to Ittala Outlet :)
It can be a shoppers dream! Well obviously depends on what kind of shopper you are. Gekås in Ullared is Scandinavia’s largest shopping centre (department store). You can find everything here and it is often at a good price. It is so popular they built a massive camping site and a hotel should be done soon. People come from all the way up north , south and quite a few from Germany. I did hear a lot of Danish as well as Norwegian.
It is so well-known that Swedish channel 5 made one season “Ullared“, about some staff, managers and the customers. I think I watched one program a couple of years ago and laughed quite a lot, the evenings at the camping site brings out some strange personalities. The TV show became such a hit they made another couple of seasons. And some staff and customers have become famous and loved but there are some crazy people as well. :-)
I have not been to Ullared for a good seven years and I remember last time I was not spending too much since I had in the back of my mind I was going to London for three months, thinking “Ullared will still be here when I get back”, but I think I might have bought some new kitchenware for my home. It is still in boxes in my dad’s basement. Oh well!
Anyway this time I was after things for Stina, rainclothing, snowsuit, books, dvds and some perhaps some new clothes, they sure grow fast at this age.
So early start, Stina, mum and my brother Caj was supposed to head off towards Gothenburg, pick up my aunty Tina, meet up with my other aunty Bittan so lots of help with Stina.
On our way, Stina with her Panda, hat and dummy
Well Caj realised three ladies, a shopping crazy sister and a loud child would not be an hour shopping, but perhaps a whole day. Aunty Tina did not make it and aunty Bittan went there when they opened and was done by the time we got there and was on her way home so my help-with-Stina plan did not quite work out, but she was great and fell asleep within 30 min and slept for 90 min which gave me some time.
Well this was the theory! So much to see and way too many people made me slightly panic and there were moments I was ready to find a corner and sit down and cry. It was horrible! You could not move, no use looking for something on your list, if you happen to walk by it you were in luck. No use to walk around back and forth between the departments, just grab what you saw. If you liked something, just grab it. It was mad! Every aisle looked like this, worse other places but I think I would not have been popular if I stopped to take a photo.
People and trollys eveywhere
The regulars knew the game, you picked up a shopping trolley and filled it with small baskets, parked the trolleys and took a basket and came back and forth, not easy with a pram so that was out of the question for me. Your trolley had a colour and a number, remember it! Plenty of lost trolleys called for in the speakers. But as all Swedes are very likely to tell anyone if they don’t have the right trolley, which they also did it seemed to be sorted fairly quickly.
Your trolly with number and colour code
After a while I had had enough and just wanted to leave and Stina was doing so well but she got a little restless as well.
Kicking a Barbapapa shopping bag.
Paid and headed out. Perfect found a playground outside which was empty, could be the rain! It kept Stina busy so that was good.
Perfect for restless legs
Found quite a lot: a snowsuit for Stina, lots of jumpers, jeans, cardigans, pajamas and lots of DVDs and Books for Stina, stories I grew up with. Found some nice things for home but not a lot of space left in luggage, liked these, thought they looked homely.
House lights, thought they would look great in the window!
We did found this LEGO built “model village” of Ullared. Thought it was great most of them had fallen over, fainted of pure exhaustion.
