Stylish, Distinctive, Contemporary, Happy and Fun Scandinavian Designs for the Whole Family
This week has been a good one with deliveries, lots of fun returning and new designs have turned up and we love it.
The new cloud, frog and sheep hang storage containers are already a new favourite as well as the spice grinders by MENU (a perfect wedding gift).
It makes me happy when I see cheerful designs and a new brand to us is just that. We welcome MENU the sooo contemporary and functional yet so elegant Danish brand. I have seen them many times and could not resist stocking the very cool “Dropp” bowl in silicone. Yes it can be used as a fruit bowl, but there is so much more you can use it for. Since it is in silicone why not serve hot food in it or a summer trifle or the perfect (very popular in Sweden) “meringue suisse”.
And best of all when I bought the latest Homes & Interior Scotland magazine and there it was (Page 53).
But of course the “Dropp” bowl is not the only product we stock by MENU, here are a few images of the products we decided to join us in the shop. Better hurry since they already seem to be a new favourite.

We are finally up and running! Well not really, but it is a step closer to our website and future webshop. So if you have ended up here you might have tried our http://www.spektakular.co.uk website address. So Welcome or Välkommen as the Swedish word is.
We are a small shop just off Holy Corner in Edinburgh’s Bruntsfield/Morningside area. We are a family business, it is me Charlotte (the Swede), Richard (the Scotsman) and our gorgeous baby girl Stina. At Spektakulär you will find great things for your home; cushions, plastic rugs, aprons, tins, felt baskets, coasters, wine carafes and much much more. It is a perfect place to get the gift for a friend, family member or your loved one. Or why not just come in for a small “eye feast” of lovely things, as one of our customers said the other day.
We have created a bright and white shop, which makes it look Scandinavian and that is the point. We only stock Scandinavian design. Mostly Swedish, since I managed to source the stock during my travels home to Alingsås, a small town north east of Göteborg (Gothenburg).
Please come and visit and when you do you will most likely meet Emma (the Aussie) who manages the shop while I spend most of my time with Stina, now and then you will also run into Lisa (another Swede) who helps out and also is a graphic designer and did our lovely logo. You’re most likely to see Stina is on Sunday’s when the family is in the shop.

Lovely Anna at Boda Bar (and Victoria and Sofi’s and Joseph Pearce’s) recently invested in Linum cushions from us. She sent me some photos from Victoria and Boda. It sure looks lovely and inviting.

What a lovely day… Spring is in the air and I feel so happy. Tomorrow I will take Stina with me to Hopetoun House Garden Centre and pick up some plants to have outside the shop, am so excited!

Well, Valentine is not a Swedish tradition or something we swedes celebrate that massively, however it is growing and I do remember in school we had “be my valentine”, and after a year in USA and then moving over here to the UK I find it growing more and more. I do love anything with love hearts so here at Spektakulär we have some hearts and of course lots and lots of gift ideas so do pop in to find your loved one a special gift this Valentine…

Well Christmas is over and gone and a new year 2011 has started and we’d like to take the chance to say thanks to our lovely customers who have welcomed us so warmly, and still came back to see us in the dreary January days!
With the weather being so horrible, we thought we should give you an extra reason to risk a rainshower and come to see us. Oh wow, already December, what happened to November? Lots have happen here at Spektakulär. First of all, very warm welcome to Emma, who is now managing the shop so I can spend more time with this and of course give Stina 100% she is already seven weeks and sure is growing fast.
New and exciting products arrive every week now, which is fantastic since we are very busy and the products fly off the shelves. However this weather has delayed a few deliveries, so please be patient, they will arrive just don’t know when yet!
