New designs from Sagaform this Autumn

One of our most popular brands is Sagaform, perfect for gifts.

“Sagaform stands for joyful, innovative gifts for the kitchen and the set table. Indoors and outdoors. Joyful gifts for friends or family, or to spoil yourself with”.

This week we are expecting in some of the new Autumn designs, such as more of the lovely Season range.  We already do the lovely oven dishes that have been a great gift for weddings, birthdays or as some of you say, just can resist a little treat. We have added in serving bowls, ramekins and a lovely jug! As well as a wonderful new range called Spectra, colourful wineglasses, tumbles and carafes. I think these will be a new favourite with many of you. And not to forget, if you are in our shop now and then, well then you know how much we love candles and candle holders, and it is perfect this time a year, when it is dark and wet to get cosy, stay indoors and just light up some candles, so we have introduces a lovely tealight holder, Tubelight. Comes in three different colours, purple, green and blue.

And soon Sagaforms Christmas range with mulled wine sets, tealight holders, schnapps carafes and not to forget the popular Squirrel bowl that was a massive hit last year and that lots of you already asked for…soon soon it will be back in!

Have a great weekend and don’t forget to come in and say hi if you are in the area, we have lots of new things in the shop:)

Autumn news…

It is the beginning of September and when I walked to the shop yesterday I did noticed that the leaf are starting to change colour, oh what a shame that the Summer just never seemed to arrive this year. Well I hope it will be a fantastic Autumn instead. I do enjoy the Autumn, the colours are amazing, the air will be fresh and the feeling after a long walk is inspiring. I dig out all the thick quilts and it is time to lit up a few candles at night which I love.

It is time for a bit of a change in the shop so during September you will notice a lot of new products and designs in the shop. I can not believe that in two weeks we have been open a year.  A year go I was heavily pregnant, getting ready to set up my dream, a small Scandinavian shop with designs I love and I believe will make a home feel more loved. Also very excited but a bit terrified of having a baby, and at the same time as well. Well it worked out quite alright, but it sure has been a busy year with a lot of ups and downs, and to be honest I am still learning.

If you have been into the shop you will have most likely been greeted by Emma, our Australian girl who has been here full-time. She is now taking a new direction in life and is going back to school, so from now on she will be here at Saturdays, Lisa the Swedish lady is in as normal on Wednesdays and our newest member of staff is Beata, also Swedish. New as well is that on Mondays and Tuesdays you will meet me in the shop, so do pop in and see us, we love to help if you are looking for a gift or just would like to treat yourself with some lovely Scandinavian designs.

Have a great week and I am looking forward seeing you soon.

Happy Sweden Day!

6th June is the Sweden National Day.

Here at Spektakulär we will celebrate this with an fantastic offer!

Spend £15 or more and we will give you a packet of napkins from Färg & Form for free. We  looked for the most Swedish thing we could find and yes, blue and yellow moose napkins…oh yeah! Don’t think there is something more Swedish than these.

And of course I took the opportunity to do a new window display, this in all blue and yellow.

Happy Sweden Day!

New brand

It makes me happy when I see cheerful designs and a new brand to us is just that. We welcome MENU the sooo contemporary and functional yet so elegant Danish brand. I have seen them many times and could not resist stocking the very cool “Dropp” bowl in silicone. Yes it can be used as a fruit bowl, but there is so much more you can use it for. Since it is in silicone why not serve hot food in it or a summer trifle or the perfect (very popular in Sweden) “meringue suisse”.

And best of all when I bought the latest Homes & Interior Scotland magazine and there it was (Page 53).

But of course the “Dropp” bowl is not the only product we stock by MENU, here are a few images of the products we decided to join us in the shop. Better hurry since they already seem to be a new favourite.

See you soon

Woo hoo and Welcome

We are finally up and running! Well not really, but it is a step closer to our website and future webshop. So if you have ended up here you might have tried our http://www.spektakular.co.uk website address. So Welcome or Välkommen as the Swedish word is.

We are a small shop just off Holy Corner in Edinburgh’s Bruntsfield/Morningside area. We are a family business, it is me Charlotte (the Swede), Richard (the Scotsman) and our gorgeous baby girl Stina. At Spektakulär you will find great things for your home; cushions, plastic rugs, aprons, tins, felt baskets, coasters, wine carafes and much much more. It is a perfect place to get the gift for a friend, family member or your loved one. Or why not just come in for a small “eye feast” of lovely things, as one of our customers said the other day.

We have created a bright and white shop, which makes it look Scandinavian and that is the point. We only stock Scandinavian design. Mostly Swedish, since I managed to source the stock during my travels home to Alingsås, a small town north east of Göteborg (Gothenburg).

Please come and visit and when you do you will most likely meet Emma (the Aussie) who manages the shop while I spend most of my time with Stina, now and then you will also run into Lisa (another Swede) who helps out and also is a graphic designer and did our lovely logo. You’re most likely to see Stina is on Sunday’s when the family is in the shop.

We’re also on Facebook, where there are lots of photos of our products and regular updates on new deliveries.

We are looking forward seeing you.

Getting started

Right I am learning to blog, and will try to update this blog as regularly as I can.. I promise!

First of all I would like to tell a bit more about us and who we are. Spektakulär means spectacular in Swedish, but you already figured that one out. One part Swedish, me Charlotte and one part Scottish, Richard.
Everywhere in Sweden you find these kind of boutiques, and I really missed one here so we decided to open up our own. And why not!

We have now been open for three weeks and the response has been great and it has been so lovely to see so many people returning and recommending us to their friends and family. However with me comes the baby bump and the shop will unfortunately be closed for a few days. After that we will open up longer hours and there will be two lovely part-timers, Lisa and Jenny who will look after you. From the middle of November you will also run in to Emma who will run the shop for us full-time, but now and then you might run into me and the little one.

Well I will be back with an update as soon as, and also I will put up some images so you can follow us when we get new deliveries, make new windows or any upcoming events…

Ha det så gott
