It’s 6th of June and we say Happy Sweden Day!!!
A relatively new holiday in Sweden, in 2005 it bacame a public holiday. As a emigrant I have not really celebrated this day but I do think it is nice with a National day.
As you already know I miss my country, but I must admit is more likely the romantic image of Sweden mixed with childhood memories. The smell of early summer mornings, the sound of riding an old bike on a dirt road and small things like this. But I have also fallen in love with Scotland and am happy with a bit of both worlds in my life.
Anyway let’s celebrate today with a little treat in the shop. Just simply spend over £25 and you will get one of these extremely popular MOZ keyrings for free, colour of your choice!

Oh lovely Spring is on its way!
It has been a long, cold and windy winter and I am so ready to put the children in the pram and go out for some fresh air. Lovisa is now two weeks and life suddenly feels a bit more controlled again. However Richard is back at work next week so we will see but then my mum is coming over from Sweden for a week and it will be so nice to have her around.
We finally made it to the shop this week, and I am so pleased how well the girls are looking after the shop, it looks so cheerful! We have so many lovely designs in the shop (I seemed to have gone a bit crazy before I went on my maternity) and more will follow during the next couple of months.
We are looking to introduce a few new designs and brands during the summer. We have looked at jewellery for quite some time now, I guess our problem is space. Have found a great supplier back home, it is important that I like what we stock and I just love their jewellery, it is colourful and vibrant as well as stylish and elegant. Perfect gift to go with our super popular jewellery trees from Pluto Produkter. So keep your eyes open, hopefully late spring early summer some of the lovely designs will appear.

It’s a girl! Our new family member arrived on the 18th, very swiftly which was great. And of course she got a Swedish name:-)
Stina is a very proud big sister and we are now focusing on getting to know this little beauty!
Richard and I would to thank all of you our amazing customers for the lovely well wishes and support given to me and Lisa (who also had a girl a few weeks ago). It really makes us so happy and pleased so thank you!
We are now spending a couple of weeks away from the shop. But not to worry, Åsa, Emma, Joanne and Zuzanna are doing a great job looking after you and the shop.

Unfortunately I have managed to neglect this blog…I am sorry but with less than three weeks to go before the next family member is due I feel like I am a little bit under time pressure A lot of things needs to be done before the baby arrives…or does it??? Maybe it is just me but I like to be a bit more organised, since this is not my first I do know what to expect…chaos, and with a toddler I think we can expect even more chaos than last time.
Well home front, organise and get rid of things we do not need (which is a lot). Make sure the baby gets a nice little corner in our bedroom, make sure Stina is all set to be a big sister. Since we did not know what gender we had last time we got a lot of neutral clothing and things for the baby and this time, well we don’t know this time either so I think we are basically all set. However we do need a new Färg & Form Cloud blanket, since the last one we had went missing, which was such a shame because it was the favourite one. I can not make up my mind which colour, I think it will be the green one this time. Last time we had the orange which unfortunately has been discontinued. But I like the green one just as much.
Spektakulär, not a lot will change, except you wont see me in the shop any longer. Well I might be around! Stina was with me all the time in the shop when she was a baby, so who knows. But today is my last proper day in the shop and I am quite looking forward to put my feet high and just try to relax before this one will pop out.
Lisa who used to be in on Thursdays is now on her maternity leave and we are waiting to hear the news. It is with great sadness but also happiness we see her leave us for a few months! I am sure you will see her back around Christmas.
Åsa and Emma will thankfully stay with us as normal, so a couple of familiar faces will be around:) Åsa will now be in on Mondays and Emma on her usual Saturday and odd Sundays as before.
We would also like to welcome Joanne and Zuzanna who will join us two days a week each. Both with lots of customer experience and a burning passion for Scandinavian design. So I must say I feel like the shop is in good hands.
This year we are aiming to get our webshop up and running, it is our main priority. But please do not forget we do mail order now and if you see anything here or on our facebook page just ring the shop on 0131 629 0941 or email us at hello@spektakular.co.uk for more information. We will also set up a paypal account which should be super easy to use. Otherwise we hope to be able to try a few new brands and new designs. Perhaps even introduce jewellery to go with our lovely jewellery trees. I think space is our concern but I am sure we will work it out.
Thank you all for the lovely well wishes I have gotten during this pregnancy and I will pop up a few images as soon as the little one has arrived and we have settled a little. But before then I hope you all have a lovely relaxing Easter and holidays.

I have extended the date for our Pappelina order until the end of the week due to the demand and all of our lovely customers that are still measuring:)
I am sooo pleased to see the interest in the plastic rugs and very delighted to see all the different designs that have already been ordered. It will be a great delivery to unpack.
Please note that when the order has been placed it can take up to six weeks for delivery since the rugs are weaved after our order in an old factory in Sweden.

Yes for you who have been waiting…finally!!!
Next Pappelina order is taking place in a couple of weeks. I have set the date for the 4th March. Should give you some time to measure and find which design you are after. As always I will go on and on about how great these plastic rugs are. Hard wearing, easy to clean and will look amazing during the years to come. Great if you have children or animals. Stylish and cheerful in a kitchen, hallway, bathroom, playroom, under the big dining table, in the utility room or why not out on the verandah or in the conservatory.
Please do have in mind that after we place our order the rugs will be woven in an old factory in the dark forests of Sweden and it is a delicate procedure so the delivery time will be something between four to six weeks. Well worth waiting for though.
After visiting the Home Fair down in London a few weeks back I am very excited to order some of the new fresh designs in this Spring as well as the very very popular Vera (which is celebrating ten strong years this year).
Love the new Linn, Ilda and Joel designs. Simple designs yet perfectly Scandinavian.

Since we opened the shop I have come to know so many inspirational people and hopefully been able to inspire one or two as well. A couple of years back I got to know this lovely lady Nina who owns Nina’s Apartment.
Nina is super talented and has an eye for vintage designs, so I would say that combination just can not go wrong. I have followed her while she has been setting up her business, and finally I had the time to go and visit her little shop in the middle of nowhere, Lethenty Mill in Inverurie.
It sure is hard to leave her shop without finding anything you like. I do personally believe your home need to have personality and to do that you need a little bit of everything. Something old, something new and maybe that nice expensive branded item. So I could see quite a lot I liked for my own home!
Nina is very active and arranging quite a lot of vintage fairs as well as commission work. So a very busy lady one would say!
So if you are up in the Aberdeen area do take the time to visit her shop or check out her website.

It is rather lovely to wake up in the morning when the sun is shinning and it is dry! More energy and more inspiration! Am feeling a bit creative today and got some ideas for the shop to do this Spring.
Managed to plant a few Primroses in the shop pots today, think they should survive for a few months…
Because it was such a nice morning we somehow left the house early, well earlier than normal and went to Luca’s for a lovely ice-cream before I open the shop. Have seen quite a few walk by today which makes me happy, they are great and it is so nice to have them just around the corner.
Hopefully the rest of the week will be just as lovely as today:)

Time for some images from the shop. It is looking very full and lovely after quite a few deliveries!
Sagaform, Linum, Sea Glasbruk, Almedahls and Allihopa all arrived at the same time, so for the last couple of days I have tried to find homes for all the great new and old designs.
More is on its way and during the Spring we will continue to add new and exciting brands as well…oh happiness!
